USATSI_8407243_154158418_lowresThe Montreal Canadiens have been busy leading up to the NHL trade deadline and general manager Marc Bergevin has made yet another move by acquiring Torrey Mitchell from the Buffalo Sabres.

Mitchell, a Greenfield Park native, will be a nice addition to the Habs and this is yet another depth deal.

Mitchell has 13 points in 51 games this season. The 30-year-old centre was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, going 126th overall. His first NHL season came in 2007-2008 when he put up 20 points in 82 games.

Mitchell’s best season was the 2010-2011 season when he posted 23 points in 66 games. Apart from 2007-2008 and 2010-2011, he’s never hit double digits in terms of goals.

Obviously this is part of the fire sale for the Buffalo Sabres, who have been emptying out their roster like it’s going out of style.

More to come…
